For over 25 years the Second Baptist Church in Walworth, NY has been packing shoe boxes with toys, clothing, hygiene items, and school supplies to send to children in need around the world. These boxes filled with joy and love are sent worldwide by Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child (OCC) Program. Our church has set a goal of over 300 boxes to send this year.
The church members are having a Packing Party at the Second Baptist Church, 3689 Main St., on the corner of Church and Main Street in Walworth on Sunday, November 6 at 1:00 pm. They will be providing all the shoe boxes and all the supplies and gifts to fill the boxes, but need help packing.
Each gift-filled shoe box is a tangible expression of God’s love, and it is often the first gift these children have ever received. If you can’t go, perhaps you would like to help with the shipping of the boxes. It costs $10.00 to send each box. If you would like to donate please send a check to: Second Baptist Church, PO Box 68, Walworth, NY 14568. Please indicate in the memo “OCC postage.”
Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child, the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, has collected and delivered more than 198 million shoe box gifts to children in more than 170 countries and territories. This year, the project expects to collect its 200 millionth gift-filled shoe box!
