W.A.R.E (Wayne Action for Racial Equality) is hosting a MLK day event on Monday, January 20, 2025.
The theme of the 2025 Wayne County Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration is the importance of struggling against racism in all its forms in the spirit of Dr. King’s legacy of non-violent resistance.
The day begins at 11:30 with an Interactive informational display and videos at Redeem Bethel Community Fellowship Center, 4496 Route 104 in Williamson. The WARE team will continue to feature short motivational talks from Wayne County schools’ young alumni and uplifting performances from The Redeem Bethel Youth Choir and others from near and far.
An MLK Commemorative March led by Justice Organization for Youth (JOY)will take off from Williamson’s Main Street at 11:45 until 12:30 pm. The public is invited to join in.
The main program starts at 12:45 and will run until 3:15 pm at Redeem Bethel Church of God in Christ. A community dinner will immediately follow the program in the annex of Redeem Bethel. The event is sponsored by Wayne Action for Racial Equality in cooperation with Redeem Bethel COGIC. Free community meal is made possible by Reliant Credit Union, Sodus Pride Lions and Paton’s Marketplace.
