A live performance of 'A Christmas Carol' will be held at the Macedon Center Meetinghouse, 1208 Macedon Center Rd. at 2 pm on December 8th.

Mr. Kim Teneriro, performs Charles Dickens’ classic tale. His dramatic one-man performance brings to life over 30 characters during the show.

Tenreiro has performed the work solo over 100 times, and raised $80,000 for charity along the way. “The message is a good one to revisit at least annually,” Tenreiro said.

The Macedon Center event is one of several he will perform this holiday season. FREE admission. Limited seating, please call 315-538-0051 or email curatormhs@gmail.com to reserve your seat. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Macedon Public Library. Adult audience suggested. Donations are greatly accepted. Refresh- ments will be available. Raf. e items are available and a drawing will be held after the performance. Proceeds bene. t the Macedon Historical Society.

In a TV interview with 13WHAM, Tenreiro tells of seeing actor Patrick Stewart do a one man show of the Christmas Carol on Broadway. Hebought the CD of Stewart’s performance, and would listen to it in his car. Then he wrote the 15,000 words on index cards. (The actual novella is closer to 25,000 words, but it is pared down for the live performances.) Every night at bedtime, he would memorize a sentence

or two and add it to what he’d learned the night before.

“It’s a hard phenomenon to describe,” Tenreiro said. “But it’s a string of pearls. So the story . ows in a par- ticular way. And I just brute forced it in there. If you read something enough, it gets into a different part of your memory where it’s in there forever.”

In his pocket for every performance, in which he portrays more than 30 characters, Tenreiro has a miniature book that serves as both a prop and inspiration. The tiny version of “A Christmas Carol” is signed by Gerald Charles Dickens, a direct descendant of the author.

Tenreiro said while there have many great movies and plays based on “A Christmas Carol,” we are missing a lot if we have not read the actual book. “His way with words in such a short book, to have so many characters and so many scenes and so much message is really quite touching to people”.

Tenreiro is looking for more opportunities next year to do his performances for charity. He can be reached via email at KimsChristmasCarol@gmail. com.
