Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of local businesses, community groups and volunteers, Gananda Sports Boosters has been able to implement many exciting upgrades and enhancements to the Gananda athletic experience. All projects were made possible through community donations and Sports Boosters funds.
It all started with a generous donation from Gananda Bandits soccer program in March 2013. With that donation, Gananda Sports Boosters was able to purchase many of the materials to build the pressbox as well as a new sound system. Fortunately, Sports Boosters has been able to keep costs down due to the lending of expertise of hardworking community members and student volunteers who logged in countless hours building the two story structure. The Sports Boosters’ press box will give announcers the birds-eye view for sporting events on the field. While perched in the first ever press box in Gananda, announcers will broadcast using the new amazing sound system which sits atop a beautiful blue granite countertop graciously donated and installed by Rocky Mountain Countertops.
Next, Tops Markets stepped up with an incredibly donation of funds to purchase and install a magnificent 8’x16’ scrolling message scoreboard for the soccer/lacrosse field. The scoreboard will be ready to go for the first Home game of the season which is boy’s soccer on Friday September 6th. The scrolling message board will provide opportunities for in-game messaging and advertising.
Lowes of Macedon has also been a huge supporter of all projects. They have provided Sports Boosters with both materials discounts and expertise towards realizing all of these projects.
Additionally, Gananda Sports Boosters was provided donated funds on behalf of the Gananda Youth Sports Association and Panther Attack Wrestling. These funds are being used to purchase and install the first ever for Gananda, electronic scoreboards for both the baseball and softball fields. Community members are donating their time, expertise and equipment to make installation of these scoreboards possible.
Lastly, but certainly not the least, spectators and athletes will notice a beautiful addition to the entrance of the fields/track by way of a 6’x6’ flower garden put together by community volunteers with a donation from Wayside Gardens and Morrison Excavating.
Mark’s Pizza of Walworth is another community business that has been a huge supporter of Gananda Sports Boosters. Year after year, Mark’s has provided the organization and athletic teams with various ways to raise funds. This is either through discounted pizza or fundraising activities. Monies raised go directly to individual teams allowing coaches to purchase items which keeps individual player costs down. Training equipment, team wear or team functions are supported through these fundraising opportunities.
All of these projects have been coordinated and facilitated by Gananda Sports Boosters. Funds have been either donated by community supporters or through various fundraising activities such as concessions and the sale of spiritwear or events like Monte Carlo Night and Family Spring Fling.
Later in September Sports Boosters will be selling Yankee Candles and again having their Monte Carlo Night (11/2/13) at Blue Heron Country Club.
The selflessness of local businesses and community members will be felt by all those who venture to visit Gananda’s many sporting event opportunities.
Gananda Sports is grateful to all involved in making this possible and enhancing the experience for the students, athletes and fans while attending Gananda sporting events.
Sports Boosters meets on a monthly basis and is open to the community. For more information on Sports Boosters visit www.gananda.org and under the athletics tab click on Sports Boosters.
