Pirates and other volunteers affili ated with the Pirate Toy Fund, a Roch- ester non-profit organization that freely distributes toys year-round to childrenin- need throughout the Greater Rochester region, brought lots of joy during their fun-packed visit to Kelley School pupils November 19th.
“The day kicked off with an assembly full of laughter, music, dance, and smiles. Our students couldn’t take their eyes off the Pirates during the assembly and the Pirates had the entire auditorium participating,” said Kelley School grades 3-5 S.H.A.P.E. teacher Christina Sullivan.
It was Sullivan’s mom, Susan Sullivan, who lives in Fairport and who serves on the Pirate Toy Fund Board of Directors, who earlier suggested the charitable organization come to Kelley School after it won a grant to expand its outreach in the region. The organization travels around the region providing extraordinary
memorable events for kids.
“After the assembly, every student got to experience a carnival-like atmosphere in our gymnasium where students played games and interacted with the Pirates and different characters, such as Spiderman, Frozen characters, Belle, Captain America, etc.,” Christina Sullivan continued. “In addition to the carnival, every student received a goody bag filled with toys, pencils, stickers, and snacks. Lastly, every student got their own Kona-ice treat! Kelley School is grateful to have been selected for this extraordinary event!”
The Pirate Toy Fund organization left some special gifts behind that will be distributed before the upcoming holiday break in December.
13WHAM-Rochester News Reporter Alexis Arnold came to the school during the event, and her report
is scheduled to air December 3rd around 6:45 a.m. and during the 5 p.m. news hour.
