Western Wayne Art Group to Meet September 17

September 7, 2024
/ by WayneTimes.com

Western Wayne Art Group's first meeting for the 24/25 schedule will be held on Tuesday, September 17th at 7:00 PM.

Meetings are held at the Walworth Town Hall at 3600 Lorraine Drive.

Their guest presenter that evening is photographer, Kimberly Ferguson. She has lived in the Finger Lakes area since 1991 and belongs to various local arts groups and exhibit her photographs regularly. Her love of history, the arts and photography comes naturally. She has especially been interested in abandoned buildings and things that go bump in the dark and photographs abandoned buildings and investigates their histories.

In 2015, her world changed when she went to a workshop at Silo City ( a group of abandoned industrial grain elevators) in Buffalo NY. Kimberly immediately fell in love with Silo City and returned repeatedly until 2021 when access was no longer possible. Silo City and the other photographers that she met there helped her discover who she was as a photographer.

Kimberly has become known as the photographer who “ takes photos of abandoned urban and rural decay, creepy dolls, and ice bubbles”.

BUT, her photographic interests also include nature, sunsets, and animals.

Kimberly views photography as storytelling and she loves to use her photos to hear and see different perspectives of a subject and to tell their stories.

The Western Wayne Art Group is made up of artists & art enthusiasts that who monthly. They learn from visiting demonstrators, participate in workshops, spend time getting to know each other better as fellow artists, and have an opportunity to show their work.

They are proud proponents of the vibrant arts community that is alive and well in Wayne County.

Visitors are always welcome at meetings.
