National Social Work Month

March 24, 2018
/ by WayneTimes.com

Q: March is National Social Work Month. Why are social workers so important?

A: This month we would like to celebrate the importance of the role of the Social Worker in our community.

Social workers are known for compassion to the individual. The social worker sees the whole picture, and understands how there are many influences that can impact overall wellness.

They benefit our community by helping individuals tap into needed resources such as emergency housing, substance abuse rehabilitation, barriers to transportation, issues with domestic violence or abuse, and mental health. They serve a very specialized niche of our population who otherwise might not have any one to turn to.

If you know a social worker in our community, please take the time to thank them and show them appreciation for all of the hard work they do.
