On March 1st, it became official, the Blossom View Nursing Home, located at 6884 Maple Avenue in Sodus became the Sodus Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

The 124 bed facility was sold by owners, Dr. John Gertner, John Hanson and Nancy Tourje to Personal Health Care, a Terrytown, NY centered company with eleven total facilities located in bot Eastern New York with three in Massachusetts.

The emphasis at the former Blossom View Nursing Home will be on rehabilitation of cardiac, memory care, strokes, Huntington’s Disease, more bariatrics services and more acute patient care. “We will still be a full service nursing home,” said Admissions Coordinator, Holly Paddock, a 25 year veteran of the facility.

Jeanette Angellini will remain as the Administrator. The 201+ staff will remain intact, except for a handful of employees being replaced by the new management.

The long term plan by the new owners will be to incorporate the current out-patient rehabilitation center, currently located at 47 Maple Avenue, to the main building at 6884 Maple Avenue.

Jennifer Alger-Smith will remain as the Director of Nursing, a position she has held for the past year. New Activities Director, Mary Zonneville, has been a veteran at the facility for over 20 years and plans on reinstating many of the previously eliminated daily functions for residents.

The Cameos dining center, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner to the general public for $7 per meal, will remain under the watchful eyes of chefs Andrew Guthrie and Macauley Hysack. The facility is also open for community organizations for meetings and food. “We want to continue to build a community presence,” said Jeanette. “We won’t be getting rid of any services, but we will be adding,” she added.
