Team members, supporters and friends of Newark-Wayne Community Hospital gathered on Thursday afternoon, June 25 to celebrate the unveiling of the hospital’s new 64 slice CT scanner. The new CT scanner will provide higher quality images for a faster, more accurate diagnosis and a more comfortable patient experience. The CT’s ability to provide high quality CT angiography (a technique that is used to visualize the arterial and venous vessels in the head and body) will help support the hospital as a certified stroke center for the region.

Also on hand were representatives from IEC, Electronics Corp. (IEC). Leaders from IEC decided to make this lead gift, which helped to fund the new technology at Newark-Wayne. A plaque recognizing IEC’s generous contribution will be displayed in the hospital’s Imaging Department.

“It warms our hearts that IEC, which employs more than 600 employees locally, generously supported the purchase of this new technology to help us to better serve our community,” said Brad Pearson, Executive Director, Newark-Wayne Community Hospital Foundation. “It is an extremely important tool for diagnosing serious, time-sensitive health issues, such as stroke. We are so grateful to IEC for this gift that has enabled us to purchase the CT,” he added.
