When the school bus arrived at 47 John Street in Clyde on Tuesday, November 23, the 8 year-old boy refused to get on the bus. For several minutes the mother, Brianna M. Barker, age 25, attempted to physically push and shove to get the child onboard.
The bus had to move on without the child, but returned moments later after Barker had hit the child in the face. The boy got on the bus with a bloody nose and was treated.
Wayne County Child Protective Services was notified, and on Tuesday (11/30) at 10:56 a.m., Barker was arrested for Endangering the Welfare of a child.
During a prior interview, Barker, in a written statement, denied ever striking the child. In a following statement she admitted hitting the boy in the face and giving him a bloody nose. She was additionally charged with Making a False Written Statement.
Barker was taken to centralized arraignment and released to appear in Galen Town Court on the charges.
