The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest on Friday (6/2) at9:35 p.m. of a Town of Huron resident following the service of a Monroe County Family Court issued Order of Protection.
Daniel P. Spencer, age 28, of 7562 Dutch Street Road, in the Town of Huron, was served the Order of Protection for him to turn over all of his firearms. While collecting the weapons, deputies smelled the strong odor of Marijuana at the residence.
Also, Daniel only surrendered 10 long guns to deputies, and the order of protection stated he had 20 long guns. A search warrant was requested and obtained to search for the source of the marihuana smell and the other missing guns.
As a result of the search, deputies discovered several more long guns and 3 handguns not registered to Daniel. Also found was over a pound of Marihuana, prescription pain pills illegally possessed, suspected LSD, and “Molly” which is a derivative of MDMA, along with an unspecified amount of US currency. A quantity of the substance tannerite, commonly used with target shooting, was also located on site.
A consultation with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Explosives Unit deemed the amount possessed to be large and they responded to secure the tannerite along with some aerial display fireworks, until the disposition of the investigation.
Daniel was charged with the felony criminal possession of a firearm. Daniel was arraigned in the Town of Huron Court where was remanded to the Sheriff’s Jail pending the posting of $2,000 cash bail, $4,000 insurance bond or the next court date later in the month of June.
Further investigation of the items seized is continuing and additional charges are expected.
