The trial lasted only four days from jury selection to a guilty verdict. It took the jury only three hours after he was charged for them to find Jarvis Streeter guilty on all twelve charges.
Streeter, age 32, formally of 14 Maple Street in Lyons was arrested back in November of 2015 for Rape 1st, Sexual Abuse 1st, Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the 1st Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Streeter had sexual relations with a stepdaughter beginning when she was only 11 years-old. She was 15 years old when she admitted to another adult about the ongoing sex.
Following an investigation, it was learned that Streeter introduced the young girl to crack cocaine, eventually trading her off to four other men after getting her high, in exchange for more crack cocaine. Streeter was then additionally charged with Predatory Sex Assault against a Child, Rape in the 3rd degree, four counts of Sex Trafficking and four counts of Compelling Prostitution.
Three of the four men agreed to reduced sentences for testifying against Streeter. Shane Bohrer, age 25, of Lyons, Robbin Knight-Collins, age 28, of Lyons and Eddie Murphy, age 34, of Lyons pled guilty to misdemeanor crimes in the case. The fourth man who refused to testify, Clifton Hunt, age 48, of Lyons still faces charges of Rape in the 3rd Degree. His case will be presented to a Wayne County Grand Jury.
Wayne County District Attorney, Rick Healy, said the testimony of the three defendants sealed the fate of Streeter. He added the girl is undergoing therapy “She is doing as fine as she can do under counselling. It is horrendous what happened here.”
The girl testified that Streeter began the sexual contact around her 11th birthday and continued the sexual intercourse 2-3 times a week for the next 5 years while her mother was at work.
Streeter was found guilty of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, multiple counts of Compelling Prostitution and Sex Trafficking, and rape in the 3rd Degree. He faces 125 years behind bars and will be sentenced on July 21st in County Court.
Defense Attorney, Robert Tucker represented Streeter.
