The Town of Macedon Police Department reported the arrest on Wedneday (8/24) of Bradley M. Mamroe, age 21, of 543 Macedon Center Road in Macedon for multiple counts of Petit Larceny following an investigation into car break-ins in the Village of Macedon this past week.
Mamroe is alleged to have entered multiple unlocked vehicles in the Village and took loose change and personal effects. Mamroe advised police that he was attempting to support his Opiate dependency by the thefts.
Police advise that, through their investigations, they have developed several other persons of interest in a rash of vehicle break-ins over the past several months and are working to bring charges in the near future on them. Mamroe is currently charged with three counts of Petit Larceny and faces additional charges pending further investigation.
Mamroe was arraigned and remanded to the Wayne County Jail on $600 /$1200 bondcash bail.
Macedon Police want to remind residents to lock their vehicles and their homes, and to not leave any valuables in their vehicles or out in the open. “Most of the thefts are crimes of opportunity for the individuals who are trying to find cash or personal items that can quickly be pawned, or sold to further their drug addiction”, advised Macedon Chief John Colella. “Over the past several months in Macedon and surrounding Towns there have been over 30 cars gone through with items taken. Most could have been prevented by not leaving valuables in the vehicles and locking the doors”.
Macedon Police are working on the rash of thefts with the Wayne and Ontario County Sheriff’s Offices to resolving the remaining cases.
