On December 17th, 2024 at approximately 7:28 PM, the City of Canandaigua Police Department arrested 55-year-old Town of Palmyra resident, Brian E. VanCaeseele, for Burglary in the First Degree, Attempted Rape in the First Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment in the First Degree, and Criminal Contempt in the First Degree.

It is alleged between December 13th, 2024 to December 14th, 2024, VanCaeseele unlawfully entered a City of Canandaigua residence where a physical disturbance took place. During this altercation, VanCaeseele refused to let the victim leave their home for an approximate eight-hour period and attempted to engage the victim in unwanted sexual intercourse.  There is a previously issued order of protection in effect, which protected the victim from VanCaeseele.

VanCaeseele was processed and transported to the Ontario County Jail for  CAP Court arraignment and remanded on No Bail to appear in Ontario County Court.
