The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Kurtis Stack, age 34, of 3111 Aikens Road, in the Town of  Savannah. On July 30, 2026 the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Drone Aviation Response Team was assisting with an investigation in the area of Aikens Road/Cotton Road in the Town of Savannah with aerial overwatch. While the drone was deployed and in flight, it was struck by a projectile disabling the camera system on the drone. 

An investigation into the incident led to the arrest of Stack after it was learned he fired a projectile from a rifle at the drone. He was charged with Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree and Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree. Stack was processed and held at the Wayne County for CAP Court arraignment and released to appear in Town of Savannah Court on September 3rd. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Federal Aviation Administration .during this investigation.
