On Thursday (1/26), State Police in Lyons arrested Chester M. Sakowski, age 55, of 2288 State Route 89 in the Town of Savannah, Theft of Services.
According to police the water was shut off at the mobile home residence in 2014 and the meter removed. Savannah water personnel heard that Sakowski was receiving municipal water over the three year period from 2014 to 2017. Sakowski refused to allow workers to check the shut off valve on his property and parked a vehicle over the outdoor ground valve.
Police finally obtained a search warrant the revealed that Sakowski not only turned the valve back on, but jury-rigged his own pipe to receive municipal water.
By illegally connecting to the Town of Savannah water supply Sakowski received an estimated $1,053.50 in water service from 2014 to 2017. He was released with an Appearance Ticket returnable in the Town of Savannah Court.
