Newark Village Police spotted a vehicle driven by Ronnie Britt, age 26, of 401 Driving Park Avenue in Rochester pull into the KwikFill, with a passenger, Maleek Tarver, age 25, of 123 Blue Spruce Road in Geneva, with a partially concealed license plate.

Tarver was wanted on a Newark  bench warrant for Failure to Pay a Surcharge on a previous conviction.

As the officer approached the vehicle, he spotted a baggie of leafy substance in the cup holder. Tarver admitted it was his and handed it to the officer. The officer advised Tarver he was wanted on the warrant.

Britt then put the vehicle in reverse with the officer hanging on. The vehicle sped off with two officers in pursuit. The vehicle stopped in the middle of Marie Avenue and Tarver jumped out and ran. After a brief foot chase Tarver was taken into custody by one officer and the other officer nabbed Britt.

Tarver was subsequently arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh degree-crack cocaine; Resisting Arrest and the outstanding warrant. He was arraigned and remanded to jail on $1000 cash bail to reappear in Newark Court on March 21st

Britt was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana; Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree; Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the Second Degree; Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor vehicle and Reckless Driving. He was arraigned and remanded to jail on $1000 cash bail to reappear in Newark Village Court.
