As August draws to a close, and summer gives way to fall, there is still plenty of outdoor fun for residents across Wayne County to enjoy.
Free concerts, local farm markets and annual festivals are just a few of the family-friendly activities taking place over the next few weeks.
Here’s a rundown of what’s happening locally:
Sunshine Auto Parade/Fireworks
Sodus Point • August 31st
Sodus Point’s 20th annual Sunshine Car Parade will take place on Saturday August 31st at 5pm. Classic cars of all types are asked to line up at 4:30 on Sentell Street off Route 14. There will be food trucks downtown in the basbeball field beginning at 3pm, followed by music by The Flock, then fireworks begining at 9pm.
Rotary Family Fest
Newark • September 7th
The Newark Rotary Club will host “Family Fest” on September 7th from 11am-7pm at the Newark Fireman’s Field, 100 Barker Parkway. The day will be filled with live music, magic for the kids, several food trucks as well as craft and vendor tables. The event will also feature a silent auction and a beer and wine tent.

Macedon Center Community Lumberjack Festival
Macedon • September 7th/8th
A annual favorite, Macedon’s "Lumberjack Festival" returns for its 41st time this year.
The event will run 8:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. daily, at the Macedon Center Firemen’s Field, 2481 Canandaigua Road, Macedon.
Admission to the event is $5 for adults, $4 seniors (60+), $2 for kids 6-14 and free for kids 5 and under.
Harvest on the Canal (replacing Canaltown Days)
Palmyra • September 13-15th
Earlier this year, it was annoucned that the annual "Canaltown Days" would be cancelled. Thankfully, the Union Agricultural Society of Palmyra stepped in and will now host "Harvest on the Canal" at the Wayne County fairgrounds in Palmyra September 13-15th. Garlic Day Festival
Lyons • September 14th
The Lyons Main Street Program is hosting its Fifth Annual Garlic Day at the Lyons Farmers’ Market on Saturday, September 14th, from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
The event will feature Garlic flavored dishes, garlic braiding, fermented garlic and more.
Special food offerings for Garlic Day include breakfast sandwiches from Tokarz Family Restaurant, the Lutheran Church’s popular fried dough, Ms. Linzy’s Mac & Cheese, Tacos Guanajua-to, Fully Loaded 315, Fork It, and the Dainty Donut.
Walworth Farmers Market
Now through October 8th
In Walworth, the Ginegaw Park Farmers Market is open every Tuesday from 3:30pm-6:30pm through October 8th.
New this year is the “Summer Concert Series” which joins the market’s already popular lineup of local food trucks, craft vendors, farm fresh fruits and vegetables and seasonally themed events.

Lyons Farmers Market
Now through October 28th
The Lyons Farmers Market is held every Saturday through October 28th from 8:00 AM until Noon on Church Street in historic downtown Lyons at Central Park.
The Lyons Farmers’ market features a wide array of local produce, meat, eggs, bread, jams, honey, baked goods, local coffee, dog treats, body care and crafts. Visitors can stroll the pedestrian-only street where up to 50 vendors set up.
Parking is available off of Montezuma street, near the Trolly Station, off of Route 14 near Hometown Auto Service, and off of Water street behind the Wayne County DMV.

Newark Farmers Market
Now through mid October
The Newark Farmers Market is open Thursday afternoons from 4pm-7pm, through mid-October. The market is located at Central Park on Church street and features local produce vendors in addition to food trucks and other seasonal activities.
Organizers remind all attendees that children must be supervised at all times and dogs must be leashed. There is no smoking, and no bikes or scooters are permitted in the market area.

Marion Farmers Market
Now through mid October
The Marion Farmers market take place every Friday from 4pm-7pm on North Main street and boasts multiple vendors ranging from homemade breads and baked goods to locally grown fruits and vegetables. The market often hosts activities for children including face painting and a “youth booth” to help truly make the market fun for the whole family.

Sodus Farmers Market
Now through October 9th
Sodus hosts their Farmers market every Wednesday from June through early October.
Beyond the standard market faire, The 2nd Best Shop in the Sodus United Third Methodist Church basement will also be open and is filled with lots of second-hand goodies.
