An attorney from Palmyra, who grew up in Macedon, was elected and recently sworn in, to her new position as Wayne County Court Judge.
Jeannie D’Alessandro, age 53, who had most recently served as the first assistant attorney for Wayne County’s Social Services, was sworn in with much fanfare on December 30, 2025.
Elected in November as a Republican/Conservative candidate, Jeannie D’Allesandro will take the seat of retiring County Court Judge Rick Healy. Her term is for 10 years.
D’Alessandro was lauded with speeches and a slide show presentation about all the woman who were “Firsts” in Wayne County (presented by Huron historian Rosa Fox).
Both Republican Chair Amy Schreiber and former Conservative Party Chair Mike Garlock were on hand to congratulate Jeannie.
The new County Court Judge, graduated from Palmyra Macedon High School in 1990, and grew up in Macedon. She was recognized and honored by her classmate at Pal-Mac, Mike Boesel, who was her campaign manager.
New York State Senator Pam Helming, who hosted the ceremony, had high praise for D’Alessandro.
“Today, as we celebrate Jeannie taking her Oath of Office and becoming the next County Court Judge, we are witnessing history in the making. Judge Jeannie D’Alessandro is the first woman in Wayne County history to hold this position.
Jeannie brings nearly 27 years of legal experience to the bench.
Her career began at the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, and continued at the Wayne County DA’s Office. Jeannie’s experience includes years in private practice handling criminal defense, matrimonial cases, Family Court matters, and serving as Attorney for the Child.
Most recently, Jeannie served at Wayne County DSS, prosecuting child abuse and neglect cases—this is extremely tough work that requires both strength and compassion.
Throughout her career, Jeannie has had the benefit of working with many well-respected leaders in the courts; including Judge Kehoe, Judge Barrett and Judge Healy,” said Helming.
The Senator also noted that Jeannie’s roots run deep.
She was raised and has lived in Macedon and Palmyra - a Wayne County native. She currently lives in Palmyra with her fiance Jack, his daughter, and her two children.
“She understands this community, not only in a professional capacity, but as a neighbor and a parent. That balance, along with her vast experience, has prepared her well for her new role,” noted Helming.
Judge Jeannie D’Allesandro was sworn in as the newest Wayne County Judge by the friend and colleague the Honorable Dennis Kehoe.
