Assemblyman Robert Oaks of Macedon had been considering whether he would leave his seat in the New York State Assembly to pursue being a candidate for the seat been vacated by State Senator Mike Nozzolio.

As the grueling process of delivering a State Budget is finally winding down, Assemblyman Oaks made he following statement:

“After a great deal of thought and careful consideration, I am announcing my intention to seek re-election to the New York State Assembly this fall. It would be my profound honor to continue to serve the people of the 130th Assembly District, as I have for the past 24 years.”

“I am honored to have been considered as a candidate to fill the Senate seat being vacated by Senator Mike Nozzolio, who I have worked closely with for the past 24 years. The Senator’s legacy and contributions to our region are immeasurable, and I wish him the best as he now focuses on a personal challenge.”

“I have appreciated the counsel and encouragement of so many of my friends, colleagues and community leaders in our region. After lengthy discussions with my family, I have determined that, although this is a great opportunity, it is not the right choice for my family and me at this time. I look forward to continuing my service to the residents of the 130th Assembly District.”
