The Humane Society of Wayne County was recently the surprise recipient of a large grant from Paychex Founder Tom Golisano. The grant will be $1.5 million over 4 years. Another wonderful gift last week came from the North Rose Lions Club who raised $10,000 for the campaign. The goal is not yet reached, but the goalpost is coming closer.
Mark Plyter, Executive Director at the Humane Society of Wayne County said: “Stephanie Cooper and I were invited to a special presentation at the Golisano Business Institute on Tuesday. Mr. Golisano gifted $360 million to a number of organizations from Rochester, Syracuse and Buffalo. We were fortunate and received $1.5M (to be paid over 4 years, $375,000/year). What a wonderful and exciting morning and what a boost to our capital campaign!”
While the donation has brought the organization much closer to their goal, they still need your help.
On Sunday, October 6th from 4:30-8:00 pm, the “Leaf-A-Legacy” event will bring folks out for a casual afternoon/evening of music, food, outdoor wandering and more. The 4:30-8:00pm event will be held at the “hidden treasure” venue of the Lodge at Shadow Hill on Lakeside Road in Ontario.
Music will come from local popular DJs “Doze Guyz”. Guests will enjoy yummy grazing tables of food, many fabulous silent auction items for bidding (and winning), a 50/50 raffle and chances to win a large “lottery” board full of tickets, an outdoor pumpkin walk (take home a fun hand-painted pumpkin), corn hole games outside, a fire pit for relaxing, cash bar and coffee set up, desserts galore and a special keepsake as you leave.
All money raised will go to the HSWC’s Capital Campaign.
Tickets are available online only, for $50 per person. (Only 200 tickets are available). Get your tickets now! Go to: https://tinyurl.com/42uwbadf, or call the Society at 315 946-3389.
For 34 years, the Humane Society of Wayne County (HSWC) has provided a safe haven for lost, unwanted and abused animals. As a self-funded, not-for-profit, no-kill facility organization, HSWC needs assistance...and you can help! The “Raise the Woof” Capital Campaign needs to raise $3.5 million in order to build the new shelter.
