At about 10:36 a.m. on Saturday (9/21), Wayne County Deputies responded to 24 Maple Street, Apartment #1 in Lyon following 911 calls reporting a domestic violence incident and reported gunfire at the residence.
Upon their arrival police located the body of Shawn G. Rahn, age 40, of Elmer Street in Lyons. The girlfriend summoned Rahn, who lives nearby and was a family friend
During the ongoing dispute, Randolph L. Scott, age 37, residing at the Maple Street address, shot Rahn in the chest with an illegally obtained handgun. Following interviews and investigation in the immediate area, Rahn was quickly identified in the shooting and, at approximately 12:34 p.m., he was taken into custody.
Scott was charged with Murder in the 2nd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree. He was arraigned on the charges in centralized arraignment the following day (9/22) and remanded to the Wayne County Jail without bail. The weapon was recovered. Police are still investigating and trying to determine where Scott obtained the illegal handgun and ammunition. The entire area was cordoned off for several hours. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the State Police, the Village of Clyde Police Department, and Wayne County EMS.
