The Times has learned that Sodus Police Sergeant Cory M. Anderson, age 43, of Ontario Center Road in the Town of Walworth, was arrested on Saturday, August 10, at 3 p.m. by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office following an investigation of four separate incidents at the Lowes home improvement store located on Marketplace Drive in the Town of Henrietta.
It is alleged that Anderson, who also works as a contractor, entered the store on May 1st, May 28th, June 20th and June 24th of this year, picked up selected merchandise consisting of various household items such as doors, faucets, door trim, etc., all valued at $2347.17 and returned the items fraudulently where he received store credit and walked out of the store with numerous items, without rendering payment.
Anderson, who has worked for the Village of Sodus as a part-time police officer, was charged with Felony Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree.
According to Sodus Village Mayor, David Englert, he was made aware of the arrest and Anderson was immediately suspended, pending the outcome of the case.
Anderson was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Henrietta Town Court on September 3rd at 4 p.m.
