A staple of Wayne County for over a century, Breen’s Market in Williamson has announced they will be shutting their doors for good.
On Thursday, the Breen family shared an official statement:
"After 115+years in the grocery business, and 40+years in Williamson, we have decided it’s time to close and move onto our next chapter in life.
We can’t thank the countless customers and organizations that not only have been incredibly supportive over the many years here, but have become friends as well.
Our tiny little meat market in 1908 could never have survived and grown over the past 100 years if it wasn’t for the staff we have been blessed to have. Breen’s may have been the name, but it was the employees that made it feel like home. They will be missed the most during this transition. We wish them nothing but great success and happiness going forward, and know they will thrive wherever they end up.
Over the next few weeks we will slowly wind down the inventory and prepare for a final liquidation sale in late September.
The property owners have a wonderful plan for the plaza, and time will show it’ll be a good fit for the community, once it’s completed.
Thank you all again for supporting us for well over 100 years.
“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new” — Socrates.
Sincerely
The Breen Family"
