EAST PALMYRA: Caward, Jeanmarie S.; died on Aug. 29, 2026 at the age of 77. Family and friends are invited to call from 6-8pm on Thurs., Sept. 3 and from 11am to noon on Fri., Sept. 4 at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., 123 W. Main St., Palmyra, NY 14522. Committal prayers will be offered following visitation at noon on Friday. All are invited to the East Palmyra Fire Hall, 2145 Tellier Rd., Palmyra starting at 1pm on Friday. Jeanmarie was born on Nov. 28, 1948 in Canandaigua, NY the daughter of Alvin and Claire (Butler) Slack. She and Lyle R. Caward were married on Sept.6, 1969 in Naples, NY. Jeanmarie had been a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary and volunteer at the East Palmyra Fire Department. Her and Lyle were avid campers and had traveled to eighty percent of the United States and many National Parks.
Jeanmarie is predeceased by her parents Alvin and Claire Slack and her brother William Slack. She is survived by her husband Lyle R. Caward; daughters Veronica L. Caward, Karen J. (Steve) Peters and Julie A. (Ned) Ramage; brother Stephen R. Slack; grandchildren Lucas Peters and Seth Peters; nephews Derick (Kim) Slack and Chad (Tiffany) Slack and many other nieces and nephews.
