Denniston, Kathleen Pembroke

November 18, 2024
/ by WayneTimes.com

August 30, 1939 ~ November 15, 2024 (age 85)

Kathleen Pembroke Denniston passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on November 15, 2024.

Kathleen was born in Canandaigua, NY on August 30, 1939, the second of three children, to the late Veryl and Eleanor Pembroke. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years James N. Denniston and is survived by her sons John (Maureen) Denniston and Patrick (Joan) Denniston, daughters Joan (Bob) Herendeen, Marj (Steve) Frederick, Barb (Kevin) Heald and Judy (Patrick) Powell, 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren;  her brother Paul (Carol) Pembroke;  sisters-in-law Sue Modzel and Lenny (Andy) Bills;  brothers-in-law George (Kathy) Denniston, Charlie Sweeney, Larry Smith and George Barry as well as many extended family members and special friends.  Kathleen was predeceased by granddaughter Dannielle Myra Heald, sister Chloe (Robert) Schmidt, sisters-in-law Carol Barry, Ginny Sweeney, Louise Patterson and Peggy Smith and brothers-in-law Les Patterson, Bob Chapman and Ron Modzel.

Kathleen dedicated her life in service to the Lord and to her family.   She was the glue that held the family together as she supported her husband in his businesses while raising six children, and her wisdom and sweet, calm demeanor embodied Matthew 5:9, “Blessed are the peacemakers.”   Kathleen found immense joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   She loved spending time reading her Bible every day and was a decades-long member of Calvary Chapel of the Finger Lakes.  A lifelong Palmyra resident, Kathleen attended First United Methodist Church as a young person and sang her first solos there.  She loved harmonizing with her sister Chloe and sang in high school music productions as well as singing the solo at her Pal-Mac graduation.  Music filled Kathleen’s home and she passed along her love of music, and of Jesus, her Savior, to her children.

Kathleen’s family would like to thank all her caregivers, especially the Palliative Care Unit at Rochester General Hospital.

A “Celebration of Life’’ service will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 23rd at Calvary Chapel of the Finger Lakes, 1777 Rochester Rd, Farmington, NY 14425.    The family will greet friends at the church from 10am to 11am.  Burial with Committal Prayers will follow the service at Macedon Village Cemetery, 28 S. Erie Street, Macedon, NY 14502. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Kathleen’s honor may be made to the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center made out to Rochester Regional Health Foundation, 330 Monroe Avenue, Suite 400, Rochester, NY 14607. Please include "Hildebrandt Hospice" on the memo line. Or go to Make a Gift | Rochester Regional Health Foundations  and select "RRH - Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center Fund" in the Gift Designation section.
