/ by WayneTimes.com

Williamson, NY - Ruth J. Ensman went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 8, 2026, at the age of 100.

Ruth was born to Charles and Alice Alexander on July 11, 1926, at the family home in Rochester, NY.  An active and adventurous young woman, she enjoyed one-handed cartwheels, synchronized swimming, and high diving. In her early years, she worked as a secretary at Eastman Kodak.

In 1948, Ruth met her future husband, Harold, and the two were married on March 26, 1949. Together, they built a life in Williamson, NY, where they raised their three children, Karen, Don, and Joyce.

A devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Ruth spent her life serving others and giving generously of her time and talents. Over the years, she baked wedding cakes, worked as a teacher’s aide, served as a Girl Scout leader and cookie coordinator, and volunteered with Applewood Twig, working in the snack bar at Myers Hospital for more than 40 years.

Ruth and her family enjoyed many years of camping together, and she also served as a lifeguard during their camping adventures. When Williamson Ambulance was first established in the 1970s, Ruth became one of its dispatchers. She later became a lecturer with Diet Workshop.

Ruth was a longtime and dedicated member of Williamson Presbyterian Church, now known as Brick Church Fellowship. She served as a Sunday school teacher, Elder, and Clerk of Session, and she also led the church’s Keenagers group. She was the Western New York Apple Growers Queen Coordinator and, along with her family, was a co-owner of Treasured Friends Gift Boutique.

Ruth was creative and loved making crafts. She especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured by her family for generations to come.

Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold Ensman; her parents, Charles and Alice Alexander; her siblings, Harold (Eileen) Alexander, Jack (Shirley) Alexander, and Carol (Patrick) Sullivan; and her precious grandson, Nicholas Johnson.

She is survived by her children, Karen (Rich) Seyfried, Don Ensman, and Joyce (Bruce) Bliek; her grandchildren, Gregory (Jamie) Johnson, Kasey (Ryan) Rovito, and Holly (Omari) Thompson; and her great-grandchildren, Blake, Bryce, and Autumn Johnson and Alice Rovito.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the kind and loving staff at Aaron Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the wonderful care Ruth received during the last two and a half years of her life.

At Ruth’s request, there will be no calling hours.  A memorial service will be held on (Saturday) August 22, 2026 at 1pm at Brick Church Fellowship: 4057 Ridge Road, Williamson, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to Brick Church Fellowship.

Ruth leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, love, and devotion to her family and community. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
