SODUS: Ruby M. Heald-Frey, 72, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, January 3, 2025, with family by her side.

The family will greet friends on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark. Following the visitation, Ruby’s graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at East Newark Cemetery, Vienna Road, Newark, NY.

Ruby was born on Sunday, June 22, 1952, in Lyons, NY, the daughter of the late Albert and Martha (Wedman) Heald. She grew up in Sodus and attended Sodus Central Schools, graduating with the class of 1970. After graduation, Ruby began her career in the finance department at C.H. Stuart in Newark. She later worked briefly for an insurance company.

Ruby cherished her twin pugs, Chloe and Cubby, and enjoyed being a homemaker and camping. She and her husband, Larry, enjoyed attending Antique Gas Engine shows together.

Ruby will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 43 years, Lawrence Frey; her sister, Valerie (Steven) McDonald; her four nephews, Cory, Christopher, James, and Terry; her niece, Danielle; as well as many cousins and extended family.

Ruby was predeceased by her brother, Gary Heald, and her sister, Dolores ‘Dolly’ (James) Salerno.
