SODUS: Doreen Green, 78, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026, at her home with her loving family by her side.

Doreen was born on June 16, 1947, in Cordele, Georgia, to Emma Mae (Smith) Raggs. She attended Polk County public schools in Haines City and Winter Haven, Florida.

A family viewing will be held on January 24 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Sodus United Third Methodist Church, 58 W. Main Street, Sodus, NY. Her Going Home Service will begin at 1:00 PM, with a repass to follow.

Doreen was a devoted stay-at-home mother and a dedicated fruit harvester. She loved reading novels and cherished every moment spent with her children and, especially, her grandchildren. Her life was rooted in family, faith, and quiet strength.

She is survived by her daughters: Veronica Carter, LaShawn (Jim) Green, Samantha (Herbert) Douglas, Andrea (Joe) Green, Sharlene Smith, Darlene Smith, and Rosemond D’Haiti; her sons: Mervin Raggs, Jr. and Archangel “Charlie” D’Haiti; her brother-in-law, Jackson Green; and a large and loving family of grandchildren: Corey Carter (Manna), Avery Gunter (Kelly), Courtney Gunter, Ian Gunter (Victoria), Gary Gunter, Jr. (Melissa), Leonard Herring, Ashley, Renee, Veronica Raggs, Crystal Nealy (Broderick), Anthony Raggs, Jr., LaToya Burgess (Loe), Al Juan Green (Amber), Kyoni Smith, Akira Smith, Keaundrea Handford (Colin), and Mauresha Sykes. She also leaves behind 57 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and her Goddaughter, Tisha Walton.

Doreen was predeceased by her husband, Sam Green; her mother, Emma Smith Raggs; her stepfather, Jessie Raggs; her father, John Tinsley; her sons, Anthony Raggs, Sr. and Jamel D’Haiti; and three angel babies.

Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured, loved, and guided.
