Kearns, Neil Scott

August 25, 2026
/ by WayneTimes.com

Marion, NY/Georgia: Neil Scott Kearns passed away on August 17, 2026, following an accident. He was a beloved son, brother, father, and friend whose warmth, hard work, and unforgettable laugh will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Neil was born on November 14, 1974, and grew up in Marion, New York. He graduated from Marion High School in 1993 before eventually making his home in Georgia.

Neil was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for and spending time with the people he loved. Family and friends were at the heart of his life, and he cherished the good times with them. Everyone who knew Neil will remember his big personality, his generous spirit, and especially his laugh—the kind that could fill a room and make everyone around him smile.

Neil was a devoted father to his three children, Colby Kearns, Nathaniel Kearns, and Emelia Kearns. He is also survived by his siblings, Paul Kearns (Victoria), Ted Kearns (Desiree), Edward Bender (Elise), David Bender (Jenna), Nolan Kearns, and Elizabeth Kearns; his mother, Jody Bender; and stepfather, Paul Bender. He was preceded in death by his father, Shawn Kearns.

Neil leaves behind a lifetime of memories and the love of his family—especially the extended Kearns family—and his dear friends, who will carry his memory with them. While he will be deeply missed, he will always be remembered for the love he gave, the hard work he put into everything he did, and the good times he shared.

Rest peacefully, Neil the Wheel. You will be loved and missed always.

Neil’s generosity extended beyond his lifetime through his decision to become an organ donor, giving others the gift of life and leaving behind a legacy of generosity that will continue.

Family and friends are invited to call 11am - 1pm, August 29, 2026 at the Faith Fellowship of Marion (formerly Second Reformed Church) Gym, 3757 Mill St., Marion, NY 14505 followed by a reception at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who wish to honor Neil consider supporting his three children through the family’s GoFundMe. Donations will help provide for them and assist with the expenses they will face following Neil’s passing. Link to GoFundMe: https://bit.ly/4xIXRfj.
