NEWARK: Bernard E. Kneut, 87, passed away on Monday,  November 4, 2024, at Clifton Springs Hospital.

Friends may call from 10-Noon on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 E. Miller St. in Newark. A  funeral service will follow at Noon at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials in his name may be made to Project Lifesaver or the Wayne County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit both at 7376 State Route 31, Lyons, NY 14489.

Bernard was born in Phelps, NY, on January 25, 1937, the son of the late Bert & Katherine Blackman. After high school he enlisted in the US Army.  For many years he owned East Ave. Auto Repair in Newark. Bernie was a life member of the Newark B.P.O.E. 1249 Elks Lodge in Newark.  He was active in the Elks bowling league for many years.  In his spare time he loved working on cars, landscaping and routing for the Buffalo Bills.  

Mr. Kneut is survived by his wife of 63 years Doris; a daughter Brenda (Eric) Keller; five grandchildren Meghan (Andrew) Chaverri, Brooke (Austin) Wallace, Adam (Kim Neilly) Regano, Justin Keller, Jenelle (Jarred Smith) Keller; four great grandchildren Derek, Cooper, Levi, Adelina; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Linda Regano; a sister Doris Secor; four brothers Harold, Kenneth, Edward and Francis.
