Lawrence “Larry” William Kuczenski, 59, of Smiths Station, AL died peacefully in his sleep at his home on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

A Private Service of Remembrance will be held at a later date according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL.

Mr. Kuczenski or “Ski” as he was known to friends, was born June 27, 1965 in Lyons, NY son of the late William Francis Kuczenski and Shirley Ann Bush Kuczenski. He was a proud U. S. Army veteran serving from 1983 – 1991. After his military career, he transitioned to the Civilian Police force at Ft. Hood, TX and eventually moving to Ft. Benning, GA. Here he rose to the rank of Lieutenant. Ski was considered one of the “good cops” in that he used common sense when performing his duties as an officer of the law.

Ski lived a life full of passion and dedication. From a young age, he showcased an unyielding determination in all his pursuits. Whether it was professional endeavors or personal interests, he approached everything with enthusiasm and commitment. Throughout his life, Ski made a lasting impact on those around him. His kindness knew no bounds, and he embraced each opportunity to lend support and encouragement to others.

He met the love of his life while he was stationed at Ft. Hood, TX with the Department of Army as a civilian police officer. Once they connected, they truly held to the marriage vows of “Till death do you part”.  He and his wife, Ms. Annjeanette just knew what the other was thinking without a word being spoken. Through divine providence the last year has been a year of fantastic memories for them. Traveling the country together, enjoying concerts and just being each other’s helpmate. We will miss him so much, however the memories and values he shared will always bring a warm smile to our faces as we remember him.

Mr. Kuczenski was preceded in death by his parents, William F. and Shirley Ann Kuczenski and a sister, Cindy Kuczenski and an Uncle Tom Kuczenski.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Annjeanette Elliott Kuczenski, Smiths Station, AL; son, Christopher Kuczenski (Ashlee); stepson, Randall Renfroe (Desirae); two sisters, Sherry VanGee (John) and Kathy Baxter (Ben); five grandchildren, Easton, Eryn, Jake, Jaxton and Liam; Aunt Eleanor Pacos, Aunt Delphine Jusko, Uncle Don Kuczenski (Kathy) Aunt Ronnieanne Kuczenski;  special nephews, Corey Champlin and Matt Champlin, several other nieces, nephews and friends.
