Wolcott: With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Katherine P. LaBrake, who departed this life at the age of 83 on August 31st, while residing at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Katherine’s journey on Earth was marked by an enduring spirit of warmth, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to her beloved family.
Katherine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack LaBrake, and her cherished siblings, Ted Shove, Bruce Shove, David Shove, Eva Bacon, Mary Putman, and Dora Goodrich. Their memories remained a steadfast part of her heart throughout her life.
She leaves behind a vibrant legacy through her expansive family. Katherine was a devoted mother to Lyle (Mary) Davis, Todd (Nilda) Davis, Deanna (James) Davis-Wiltsie, and Tonya (Tom) Kerr. She also embraced with love Jack’s children, Julie LaBrake, Antone (Fe) LaBrake, Tina Muse, Kathy Healy, Ricci (Eva) LaBrake, Jamie LaBrake, Jackie (Dale) Milliner, and Michael Martinez. Her sisters, Dawn (John) Searor, Shiree Case, also survive her. Katherine’s joy was multiplied through her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of extended relatives and friends who will deeply feel her absence.
Katherine’s life was rich with passion and purpose. Her greatest happiness stemmed from the simple, profound moments spent surrounded by her family, whether hosting lively gatherings at her home or sharing quiet stories. She meticulously chronicled her adventures while traveling in her journals, preserving the memories of a life well-explored. She found immense delight in dancing with her husband, creating beautiful scrapbooks alongside her sisters, and imparting wisdom and wonder as she read to her grandchildren. Her extraordinary capacity for love and kindness touched countless lives and will forever be etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Family and Friends are invited to call Saturday, September 5, 2026 from 10:30AM to 11:30AM at Norton Funeral Home 5925 New Hartford Street, Wolcott, NY 14590. A funeral service will immediately follow. Katherine will be laid to rest the same day in the Huron Evergreen Cemetery.
