SODUS: David Laird, 75, passed away unexpectedly at home, Sunday, January 11, 2026.
Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours Wednesday, January 14 from 2- 4 PM at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 W. Main Street, Sodus. A celebrations of his life will follow at the Wallington Fire Hall, 7863 Ridge Road, Sodus.
David was born on August 25, 1950, in Watertown, the son of the late Hugh Alexander and Betty Jane (McGrath) Laird. He graduated from Henderson High School and later worked at S‑N‑L Farms in Sodus.
He loved the outdoors and found joy in hunting, fishing, and camping. More than anything, David cherished time with his family. He rarely missed his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, always attending proudly alongside his wife.
David is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 55 and 1/2 years, Donna (Rogers) Laird; his daughter, Sherri Rinaudo; his sons, David (Kim) and Kurt (Katie) Laird; grandchildren Dylan, Brittany, Timothy, and James Rinaudo, Nathan and Breanna Laird, Delilah Am Moore and Kearstin, Emily, Jacob, Devin and Jeffery Laird; three great grandchildren; his sister, Leata Kersey; his brothers, Hugh “Butch” (Linda) Laird and William “Bill” Laird; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his son Michael; his sister‑in‑law Virginia; and his brother‑in‑law Duane Kersey.
David will be remembered for his devotion to family, his love of the outdoors, and the steady presence he brought to every gathering and sideline. His loss leaves a deep void in the lives of those who loved him.
