LYONS: Marinus Muilwyk, age 93, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

Graveside services will be held at 2pm, Saturday, August 17th at Elmwood Cemetery, Lyons.

Contributions may be made to the Wayne County EMS in Marinus’s memory.

Marinus was born June 28, 1931, in Brandwijk, Holland. He was the son of the late Jan and Annigje Muilwijk. He came to the United States via Ellis Island in 1950. When Marinus arrived in the US he worked as a farm hand for various farms in the area. Once he and his brother, Symen , earned enough money, they bought land and created Muilwyk Brothers’ Farm in Lyons. For many years, the brothers operated the farm which produced dairy, crops and fruits. Upon retirement, Marinus’s favorite activity was surveying his farm with his children and grandchildren on his golf cart, making sure everything was pristine. He was a master carpenter, wood worker and restored his 1939 The General tractor, complete with a caboose for the grandchildren.

Marinus will be sadly missed by his wife of 68 years, Cornelia; children, Diane (Craig) Muilwyk  Clemons, Eddy (Jackie) Muilwyk, Patty (Rick) Bell, and Chrissy (Mike Burt) Checho; grandchildren, Melissa, Jackie, Lee Hodges, Jesse, Lauren, Gareth, Mitchell, and Cassidy; great grandchildren, Raegan, William, Jaxson, Evelyn, Addie, and Emmie; siblings, Annie (Arie) Korevaar, Corrie (Arie) Boon, and Arie (Katrien) Muilwijk.

Marinus is predeceased by his dear brother and business partner, Symen and numerous siblings in Holland and Canada.

Arrangements by the Weeks – Keysor Funeral Home, Lyons.
