VICTOR/MACEDON: Ernest D. O’Meal passed away on September 27th, 2024 at the age of 97. Ernest is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn O’Meal who passed away on April 19th, 2024.  He is also predeceased by his parents Edward and Grace O’Meal of Newark, NY, and two sisters, Agnes (O’Meal) Leeuwen of Marion, NY, and Dorothy (O’Meal) Cochrane of Ripley, NY.    

Ernest is survived by sons, Kevin (Nancy) O’Meal, of Fairport, Larry (Susan) O’Meal of Canandaigua, and daughter, Susan (Daryl) Martin of Newark. Ernest is also survived by grand-children, Daniel O’Meal, Brandon (Crystal) O’Meal, Samantha Martin, and Tyler (Rebecca) O’Meal as well as five great-children.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ernest grew up in Newark and lived in Macedon for much of his adult life.  Most of his career, he worked at Garlock, as an Inside Sales rep. Ernest was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, enjoyed flying over the years at airshows when he could, and owned two planes during his lifetime.  He loved his gardens and could be found working in them often.  Ernest and Marilyn attended many parades and concerts supporting their sons who participated in various marching bands, and enjoying their grandchildren at their sporting events. They were able to take many trips across the US, some of which were just with his wife Marilyn, and some were with dear friends. Both Ernest and Marilyn enjoyed hot air ballooning locally and crewed with a local hot air balloon for many years. 

Ernest’s family is so grateful for all the loving care he received the past year and a half at Victor Views Senior Living in Victor, NY, and most recently at M.M. Ewing Continuing Care in Canandaigua.  A memorial service will be held on November 9, 2024 at 11am at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1040 Route 31, Macedon, NY 14502.
