Because of God’s great love for all of humanity and his priceless gift of salvation, Frederick W. Pittman went peacefully home to the unimaginable bliss of heaven September 13th.

Beloved husband to Brenda for nearly 45 years, he was released from a selfless and valiant 12 ½ year battle with stage 4 cancer. And by the grace of God, and to the astonishment of his physicians, he lived a decade longer than they originally thought.
Born in 1952 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Hedy and Steven Pittman, Fred grew up with them on Long Island where he utterly loved swimming in the Atlantic Ocean at Jones Beach State Park.
Following his graduation from Syosset High School in 1970, degrees earned from SUNY Morrisville and Cornell University enabled him to work mostly in horticulture-related jobs until illness necessitated his retirement in 2014.
Just as he lived quietly, privately and generously, Fred insisted he leave this world, for the better one, as quietly as he came into it. Hence, at his request, there will be no calling hours or funeral.
Instead, Fred, who loved nature, his dogs, donkeys and was a great supporter of animal and veteran causes, hoped others who knew him would simply remember him best as someone who created a wonderful place in his yard for birds. He truly did.
Pre-deceased by his parents and younger brother Robert, Fred is survived by Brenda, wonderful brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, four amazing nieces and an equally great nephew, several grand nieces and nephews, cousins and some special friends and neighbors.
