LYONS - It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Frederick Duane Ross on August 12, 2026. Fred was born on June 3, 1938 in Rochester, NY to Franklin E. and Susie Ross. Fred proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 to 1963. He began his military training at Parris Island, SC and completed special combat training at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. He received an honorable discharge in 1963. Fred was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps and held deep pride for his country. He was very often seen wearing his US Marine Corps hat with the motto “Semper Fidelis”, (Always Faithful) and believed “once a Marine, always a Marine”.

Fred moved to Clyde, NY after his career in the military to start a family. He worked in the building trades until his retirement.  

Fred is survived by his children, Christine (John) Barrett, Sue (David) Sharrow, Edward (Judi) Ross, Cheryl (Marc) Bristol, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, two sisters: Pat Ippolito and CarolPentycofe.  

He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Frankie Ross.

Fred enjoyed spending time with his family, watching movies, taking walks, enjoying the outside, and his casino outings. He was particularly fond of old movies and his lottery tickets. He will be sadly missed by those who loved him and lovingly remembered for his wonderful laugh and quick-witted sense of humor. Semper Fi, Dad, and may you rest in peace.

There will be no public services. A private family remembrance will be arranged at a later date.
