NEWARK: Sandra "Sandy" Safford passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025 at the Newark Hospital.

Born in Malone, N.Y. March 20, 1959. Daughter of Walter Safford and Clarissa (Wood) Safford. Sandy lived in Newark most of her life. She was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary in Newark.

Sandy enjoyed baking for her friends and family. She also liked to write poems.

Sandy is survived by 3 sisters: Bev Safford of Canandaigua, Gail Safford of Jamestown, Charlene Volpe of North Bangor, NY, two brothers; Steve (Sue) Safford of Newark, Brian (Becky) Safford of Newark, also siblings: Sally (Dave) Long of California, Phil of Mexico, Randy (Janet) of California, best friend: Brandi and several life-long friends.

Sandy was predeceased by her parents: Walt & Clay Safford and big brother: Terry Lee Safford.

Arrangements made with Schulz-Pusateri Funeral Home in Newark.

Burial and a Celebration of Life are planned in the spring at the V.F.W. Date to be announced at a later date.
