CLYDE: John passed away peacefully on August 13, 2024. He was born in Rochester, NY to the late Gerard & Helen (Cooley) Tusch. John was also predeceased by his brother-in-law, Garreth Smith.
John is survived by his sister, Carole Smith; brother, Gerard “Jerry” (Linda) Tusch; uncle, Claire (Judi) Tusch; and several cousins and friends.
John dedicated his life to serving his community through law enforcement, volunteer work, and as an elected judge for the town of Galen.
Throughout his 20+ year career with the Rochester Police Department, John embodied integrity, compassion, and a strong sense of duty. John also gave back to the community by volunteering for many years to the Clyde and Ontario ambulance services, as well as the Clyde and Ontario fire departments. After he retired from the police department, he built a large greenhouse (New Life Greenhouse) in Clyde in which he took pride in.
John loved the outdoors, finding joy in activities like boat rides on the canal as well as hunting.
Respecting John’s wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
His dedication to his community and his unwavering commitment to public service will always be remembered by those whose lives he touched. John, you will be missed.
