CLYDE: Robert F. VanFleet entered peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, December 28th after a brief illness at the age of 84. Robert, warmly known as “Bob”, was born in Auburn, NY; the son of the late George and Lois (Allen) VanFleet. As one of seven children, he attended Port Byron Central; graduating in 1957. He is preceded in death by brothers John and David as well as sister, Jane. He is survived by brother; Tom (Patty) VanFleet, and sisters; Nancy and Georgia.
No stranger to hard work, Bob was right at home at Goulds Pumps where he was employed for 37 years. Never one to sit idle in his early years, Robert always had a hand to lend to any task. In his later years, you could find him enjoying the sunshine on his front porch or reading a good book with his beloved pup, T-bone, warming his lap. An avid sports fan, game days found him cheering on the Colts football team or Syracuse basketball. No matter the pastime of choice, a bag of potato chips was never out of reach. You could not find a happier man than Robert when surrounded by his loving family and he, as their bedrock, will be sorely missed.
Robert leaves behind his dedicated son, Gregory (Stephanie) VanFleet and adored daughter, Ronda VanFleet. Cherished grandchildren; Haleigh (Michael) Stoetzel, Erin, Alyssa, Jessica, and Christine VanFleet. Several great-grandchildren mourn the loss of their PaPa.
Out of respect for Robert’s wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Humane Society of Wayne County.
Arrangements by Pusateri-Canolesio Funeral Home.
