NEWARK: Thelma Frances Vermeulen, 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 13th, 2024, at DeMay Living Center in Newark, NY.

Thelma was born on August 27th, 1928, in Marion, NY. She was the daughter of Hector and Irene Gobeyn. She graduated from Marion High School in 1946 and was proud to be the president of her senior class. She attended Rochester Business Institute and Continental Beauty School and went on to have her own beauty shop in her home for many years. Thelma and Ernie were snowbirds after retiring and traveled extensively. Thelma was a lifelong Silver Link Rebekah Lodge member and a 50-plus-year member of Park Presbyterian Church.

Thelma was predeceased by her husband of sixty-nine years, Ernest Vermeulen.

Thelma will be remembered by her three children, Judy Prutsman, Nancy Vermeulen, and Bruce (Amy) Vermeulen; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; one surviving sister, Hazel Doyle of Ontario, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
