Anna Lavada Yancey passed away peacefully on December 31st 2024 at the age of 96. “Lavada”, (as she was known by all) was born in Wiley Ford, WV, to the late John and Mary (Poole) Mundy. In 1946 she married Donald Yancey “before the largest congregation the church had ever witnessed”, according to the local paper, and together, raised 4 daughters. Prior to retirement, she worked at the Sodus Cold Storage in North Rose, for over 20 years as a bookkeeper and office manager. In her free time, she loved to read, play cards, bowl, and travel the world with her sister Christina. She also enjoyed spending time on her screened in porches. Both at home, and at her camp at Goose Pond in the Adirondacks.
Lavada leaves behind her daughters: Donna (Daniel) Richardson, Debra Miller (Ken Van Kouwenberg), Dawn Phelps and Delene (Claude) Wood, grandchildren: Tina Miller Friedman, Melissa Craig, Tonia (David) Smith, Misty (Tom) Mancine, Aimee (Paul) Reed, Jill Wood, Jamie (Paul) Hicks, Robert Richardson, Justin Richardson, Kristen (Derek) Zimmer, Edward Richardson and Michael Phelps. 24 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Donald B. Yancey in 1991. Also, her parents John and Mary Poole, brothers Elwood Mundy and James Mundy, sisters Frieda Garton and Christina Boor, granddaughter Melanie Richardson, grandson Jason Wood and great grandson Bret Gascoigne Jr.
Calling hours will be held at Farnsworth-Keysor Funeral Home in North Rose on Wednesday, January 8th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm with a service to follow. A private burial will be held in the spring.
