visitor at Esther Rexer’s 100th birthday party in Lyons Jan. 27 arrived just a little too late to catch the former music teacher “tickling the ivories” at her electric piano. “She plays by memory,” said Esther’s sister, Genevieve Smart, who helped host the celebration that brought dozens of friends and relatives to Esther’s home. “And, she plays nearly every day. Her eyesight is failing, but she memorizes the songs. Macedon Police add full-time officer

It became official last week. Macedon Police added their fifth full-time police officer. Officer Charles Michels began his law enforcement career in the United States Army as a Military Police officer and currently holds the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Army Reserve. He followed his active military service with law enforcement positions with the Department of Defense, New York State University Police - Alfred State College and most recently with the Village of Lyons Police Department.
