Newark, NY – The Arc of Wayne Foundation is thrilled to announce the resounding success of its annual golf tournament, held on June 24, 2024, at Wayne Hills Country Club. The event, which brought together participants, sponsors, and volunteers from across the community, raised an impressive $37,000 to support The Arc of Wayne Foundation’s vital programs and services.
The golf tournament featured a day of friendly competition, skillful play, and community spirit—all in support of The Arc of Wayne Foundation’s mission to advocate for and provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities. The funds raised will directly benefit their programs, ensuring that we can continue to offer the necessary resources and support to help these individuals lead fulfilling lives.
David Johnson, who is the foundation’s director, has this to say. “Since being established in 2013, The Arc of Wayne Foundation has awarded more than $350,000 in grants to support the individuals served by The Arc Wayne. Our foundation has awarded grants for specialized clinic equipment, a bounce house for Roosevelt Children’s Center, and recreational equipment for several of our homes and program sites. These grants are made possible by the support we receive from sponsors, donors, and everyone who showed up for the tournament, for whom we thank for their generosity.”
This year’s tournament was made possible thanks to the generous contributions of our Premier Sponsor, Lyons National Bank, as well as Ely Leene – Mead Maloy Agency; Alera Group; Wegmans; Reliant Credit Union; Alesco Advisors; Bonadio Group; del Lago; Dryden Mutual; and Wayne Cooperative Insurance. Their commitment underscores the importance of community involvement in creating inclusive and supportive environments for individuals with developmental disabilities.
This year’s tournament saw the team of Bob Kolb, Tom Kolb, Luke Boshart, and Paul Sanders stand victorious in group play. In addition to the team competition, there were two other contests—one to determine who possessed the most skill with a putter and the other a “Closest to the Pin” challenge. The putting contest, sponsored by Wayne Cooperative Insurance and honoring tournament founder, Bill Patterson, was won by Jim Johnson. Tom Kolb added to his great day at the links by winning the Ely & Leene – Mead Maloy Agency sponsored “Closest to the Pin” competition.
In addition to the exciting golf tournament, attendees enjoyed various activities, including raffles, silent auctions, and a celebratory dinner, all of which contributed to the overall fundraising success. The Arc of Wayne Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated and made this event a memorable and impactful one.
Looking ahead, The Arc of Wayne Foundation remains dedicated to its mission and is already planning next year’s golf tournament, with hopes of achieving even greater success and community engagement.
