We're Home!

On Saturday the Orange is back in the Women's Building as they take on three New York native teams in the Otto Invitational. Syracuse looks to rebound from a 0-3 weekend in Ohio and build some momentum heading into conference play next week.

Saturday, September 20 at 5:00 PM – Albany (2-7) | Live Stats
Don't let the 2-7 record fool you, the Great Danes enter the tournament as one of the best defensive teams in America East. Albany leads the conference in blocks (2.32 per set) and is second in opponent hitting percentage (.193) and digs (16.08 per set). Syracuse enjoys a 6-3 all-time record over the Great Danes.

One of Albany's victories was over Boston College in a five set match. They reap the benefits of having arguably the best libero in their conference as Victoriia Stroilo leads America East with 4.92 digs per set. Junior middle blocker, Tatum Jungsten is tied for second in the conference averaging a block per set.

Sunday, September 21 at 12:30 PM – Colgate (3-4) | Live Stats
Cornell is 3-4 on the season thus far with one of its victories coming against common opponent, Niagara, in five sets. The Raiders are the third best blocking team in the Patriot League as they average 1.91 per set. They also have one of the best hitters in the conference in Diane Seely, as the senior is hitting .346.

The history between these longtime foes is very one-sided and in favor of the Orange. In the 54 times these two teams have met, Syracuse has walked away the victor in 43 of those contests, losing nine and tying in two. The last time SU lost to Colgate was in 1995. Since then 'Cuse has won 21 straight contests against the raiders.

Sunday, September 21 at 6:30 PM – Cornell (2-4) | Live Stats
The Orange closes its tournament slate with another very familiar foe in Cornell. The Big Red and the Orange have faced off 40 times in their history, with Syracuse winning 30 of those meetings, losing nine and tying in one.

Cornell is one of the strongest teams in the Ivy League statistically as the Big Red ranks second in digs per set (16.05), third in blocks per set (1.90) and fourth in assists (11.38) and kills per set (12.33). Macey Wilson and Natasha Rowland sit atop the Ivy League in blocks and digs respectively.

Among The Best
The Orange has out-blocked every opponent it has faced this year. Lindsay McCabe continues to dominate the net as her understudy, Leah Levert, has also come into the NCAA on a tear.

The duo has fueled the fifth best team in the country in blocks per set and the second best team in the ACC. They've made up 97 of the team's 107 total blocks on the season, ranking them tied with Arkansas for the 10th best total in the country.

McCabe is third in the ACC and 16th in the country in blocks per set (1.54) and has the third most total blocks in the conference and tied for 13th in the country with 54. She now ranks third in SU history in total blocks (504), second in block assists (434) and seventh in solo blocks (70).

Levert is averaging 1.30 blocks per set, ranking her eighth in the conference. Her 11 total blocks against Illinois-Chicago back on September 6, is tied for the sixth best blocking performance in a four-set match in the country and is the best in the ACC.

On the offensive, Silvi Uattara is sixth in the conference, averaging 3.80 kills per set. Her 28 kill performance against Illinois-Chicago is tied for the seventh most kills recorded in the country and is the most recorded by an ACC student-athlete in a four set match.

The former outside hitter, now setter, Gosia Wlaszczuk, out-kills every setter in the ACC with 46 and ranks 10th in the conference in assists per set with 6.80.
