Newark Central School District announced earlier this week that they have been chosen to host the Wayne Finger Lakes Track & Field Event in partnership with Special Olympics New York on May 29, 2026.
Last year’s event, held at Marcus Whitman High School, saw almost 1,000 students from 20 school districts and W-FL BOCES’ instructional sites participate. Events included the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dash, running long jump, softball throw, shot put, wheelchair races, wheelchair accessible softball throw, and various motor development stations for young athletes.
Thousands of family, friends and supporters came out in 2025 with over 150 volunteers supporting the athletes.
