Unified Bowling and Unified Sports are a combination of Special Olympics New York and New York State High School Athletic Association where students with and without disabilities compete against other schools. The Unified Bowling season consisted of a 4 game league schedule and a culminating event. The Finger Lakes Division had Marcus Whitman, Victor, Canandaigua, and Newark.
In the culminating event Canandaigua took first place, just barely beating out Newark by 2 total pins for a score of 2,434 pins to 2,434 pins in the three game match. Marcus Whitman came in third place with Victor rounding out the league in 4th place.
In this season ending event, Coty Coon had a career game in game 1 with a 138 and broke 100 in all 3 games. Devin Myers had a high game of 107, and Noah Tones contributed with a high game of 108. Ammorette Laws improved every game, getting a strike in game 3 on her way to a 77. Eli Malach had the highest round of the day for the Reds with a 154. Adam Hernandez had a 3 game total of 191. Ohktober Edmister competed in her first match, breaking 90 in each of her 3 games. Sara George contributed solid and consistent scores by breaking 100 in all 3 games and getting her season
high of 143 in the 3rd game. Preston Berrios had a 104 in round 3. The team of Zach Coon and Noah Kellogg had a good match with high games of 119 and 96.
Aydin and Brynnan Mays partnered to improve each one of the 3 games to make it better than the one before. The team had an average score of 101.3 in the three counted rounds. Zach and Nick Monroe were also the third sibling tandem on the team who had a solid contribution during the regular season.
The next Unified Sports season will be this spring when Newark starts their 6th season of Unified Basketball.
