The Wayne Football Team finished the season 6-3 making it all the way to the Sectional Semi-Finals. Their 3 losses were to HFL (9-1), Batavia (101), East Rochester-Gananda (12-0). Wayne's Varsity Football Program has a record of 31-18 in the last six years and has been to the Sectional Finals and Semifinals in that time span With this year's success came many accolades. Devon Forrest was named the Class B Defensive player of the Year.
Dylan Vance was selected as a 1st Team Running Back, Michael Prentice was selected as a 1st Team Defensive Back and Devon Forrest was also selected as a 1st Team Defensive End. Mason Blankenberg was selected to the 2nd Team as a Quarterback and Nate Michel was selected also on offense for 2nd Team Offensive Line. Lucas Allman was selected to the 2nd Team as a Linebacker.
Matt Bedford, Jake Johnson, Brady Chimenti, Sean Nellis and Alex Garrow were selected for Honorable Mention. Mason Blankenberg and Devon Forrest were both selected to represent Wayne in the Eddie Meath All Star West Team, which is made up of the Top Seniors in Section V in all classes.
Additionally, Devon Forrest earned the Wayne Central Defensive Player of the Year Award, Brady Chimenti earned the Coaches Award, Jake Johnson earned the most Improved Award (all sponsored by the Wayne School District).
The Boosters Club Sponsored Awards were Mason Blankenberg earning the Tyler Graham "Play Maker" Award and Devon Forrest earning the Kyle Savary "Stay Golden" Award. Throughout the season, Devon Forrest and Dylan Vance earned the Class B Player of the Week Award and Coach David Marean earned the Section V Buffalo Bills Adpro Coach of the Week Award. Coach Marean will be recognized on the field at the Buffalo Bills vs Atlanta Falcons game on January 2nd during the pregame.
Also, the Wayne Varsity Football Team was selected as a NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Team, having a GPA over 90. This is the 18th time in the past 19 years our Varsity Team has received this award.
